You Cannot Pour From a Life Running on Fumes

Giving from depletion is not virtue. It is leakage.

Giving from depletion is not virtue. It is leakage.

A lot of people were taught that love means emptying themselves. Give until it hurts. Show up even when you are exhausted. Say yes even when your body says no. Sacrifice until there is nothing left, then call the emptiness noble.

That sounds spiritual until you look at the results.

Burned-out leaders. Resentful parents. Exhausted spouses. Underfunded dreamers. People who gave everyone access but never built enough capacity to sustain themselves.

That is not legacy.

That is slow erosion with applause.

Selfish before selfless does not mean hoarding. It means order. It means you secure the base before you deploy. It means health, money, skills, environment, and stability are not luxuries. They are infrastructure.

You cannot pass down what you never possessed. You cannot give strengthfully from scarcity. You cannot become a sustainable blessing while constantly operating below empty.

The goal is not to stop giving.

The goal is to build enough overflow that your giving no longer destroys you.
